๐Ÿ  Peace of mind

You go out. It stays in.

Out of the house and wondering if you left the hob on? Ask your homebody to go and have a look. Think helpful friend popping round, not security guard.

๐Ÿ’ก Ideas

Five-second check-ins people actually use.

A few things you can ask your homebody to look at while you're out. Remember: it can look and tell you, but it can't switch, lock or fix anything.

The hob

"Can you have a look at the hob knobs and send me a photo?"

If you think something at home might be unsafe, don't rely on the robot. Go back, or ask someone you trust to check. In an emergency, call 999.

The back door

"Is the back door shut? Show me."

The dog (or cat)

"Pop into the lounge and say hello to Biscuit."

The post

"Has a parcel come through the door?"

The plants

"Do the plants on the windowsill look thirsty?"

The windows

"Did I leave the kitchen window open?"

It can only see what's in front of its camera, on the floor it's on, while it's charged and on your Wi-Fi.

๐Ÿ“ฑ While you're out

What it can do for you.

Example chat, for illustration. Real replies depend on your robot, your AI assistant and your setup.

  • Check in from anywhere

Message it from your phone and ask how things look at home.

  • A little patrol

Ask it to wander through the rooms it can reach and report back on anything that looks off.

  • A photo when you ask

"Show me the front door." It goes and looks, then sends you the picture.

  • Visual checks

Is the hob off? Is the back door shut? Did the window get left open? It can go and have a look.

  • Talk through it

Say hello to the dog, or pass a message to someone at home, in your bot's voice.

โš ๏ธ Being straight with you

What it can't do.

  • It isn't a certified alarm or a security system, and nobody is monitoring it
  • It only works while it's charged and on your home Wi-Fi
  • It can't open doors, climb stairs or get past closed doors
  • It only sees what's in front of its camera, and can't see in the dark as well as you'd hope
  • It can't call the emergency services; if something's wrong, you need to act
โš ๏ธ Being straight with you: this is a helpful extra pair of eyes, not a certified alarm system or a security system. It only works while it's on your home Wi-Fi and charged, can't open doors or climb stairs, and only sees what's in front of its camera. Not a replacement for a monitored alarm.
๐Ÿ”’ Privacy at home

Keep the camera on your side.

  • Set it up so the camera and mic are only used when you ask (our setup prompt asks for this).
  • Tell everyone who lives with you, and any visitors, that there's a robot with a camera in the house.
  • Keep it out of bedrooms and bathrooms, and switch it off when you don't need it.
  • Use a strong password on the robot and never open ports on your router for it.
  • Photos it takes are covered by your AI assistant's own privacy settings, so check what they keep.
