This policy explains how homebodybots.com, run by Pumpkin Web Design Ltd (trading as Homebody Bots, company number 07992241, registered office 1 Starkie Chambers, Lancaster Road, Preston, England, PR1 1DA), uses cookies and similar technologies, as required by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and UK GDPR. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. "Similar technologies" includes your browser's local storage. Some are essential for a site to work. Others, such as analytics or advertising cookies, need your consent first.

The short version

When you browse homebodybots.com as an ordinary visitor, we don't set any cookies at all, and we don't use analytics or advertising trackers. The only thing we store on your device is a small note if you press Pause animations. That's why you won't see a consent banner.

Cookies and storage we use

Name Type Set by What it's for How long
hbb-paused (local storage, not a cookie) Strictly necessary (remembers a choice you made) homebodybots.com Remembers that you pressed "Pause animations" Until you clear it or press Play
wordpress_*, wordpress_logged_in_*, wp-settings-* Strictly necessary homebodybots.com Only for site administrators who log in. Ordinary visitors don't get these. Session up to 14 days
wordpress_test_cookie Strictly necessary homebodybots.com Checks cookies work on the login page (admins only) Session

Under PECR, we don't need your consent for storage that's strictly necessary to give you something you've asked for, such as remembering that you pressed Pause animations, or keeping a site administrator logged in.

Amazon affiliate links

Our "View on Amazon" buttons are affiliate links. Clicking one does not set a cookie on homebodybots.com. The link carries our Associates tracking ID in the web address (for example ?tag=homebodybots-21). When you arrive on amazon.co.uk, Amazon sets its own cookies under its own Cookies Notice, including one that credits us if you buy something within Amazon's referral window. Amazon is the controller for those cookies and the data they collect, and may process it outside the UK under its own safeguards. You can manage them through Amazon's cookie settings and your browser.

Fonts and other third parties

Our fonts and images all come from our own server, so no Google Fonts or other third-party requests or cookies are involved. We don't embed YouTube, social media or map widgets.

How to control cookies

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings (look for "Privacy" or "Cookies"). Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the site working, for example the admin login. The site's main pages work fine without cookies.

Changes

If we add analytics or anything else that uses cookies, we'll ask for your consent first, update this page and change the date at the top.
