๐Ÿ  Peace of mind

An extra pair of eyes, close by.

In the next room and wondering what's going on in the lounge? Once it's set up, ask your homebody to look around the room it's in and send you a photo. Think helpful sidekick, not security guard. Always supervise a connected robot.

๐Ÿ’ก Ideas

Quick look-arounds people actually use.

A few things you can ask your homebody to look at in the room it's in, while you're at home. Remember: it can look and tell you, but it can't switch, lock or fix anything.

The room it's in

"What can you see from where you are? Send me a photo."

If you think something at home might be unsafe, don't rely on the robot. Go and check yourself. In an emergency, call 999.

Lost things

"Can you see my glasses anywhere in here?"

The lamp

"Did I leave the lamp on in here?"

The floor

"Is the floor clear in here? Show me."

Describe it

"Describe this room to me."

A message

"Tell whoever's in here that dinner's on the table."

It can only see what's in front of its camera, in the room it's in, while it's charged and on your Wi-Fi. It can't find its way between rooms.

๐Ÿ“ฑ While you're at home

What it can do for you.

Example chat, for illustration. Real replies depend on your robot, your AI assistant and your setup.

  • Ask from your phone

While you're at home, message it and ask what it can see.

  • Looks around the room it's in

It turns and looks around the room it's in, then tells you what it sees. These robots are 12-17cm tall and can't map or find their way between rooms.

  • A photo when you ask

"What can you see?" It looks around the room it's in and sends you a photo.

  • Talk through it

Pass a message to someone in the same room, in your bot's voice.

โš ๏ธ Being straight with you

What it can't do.

  • It isn't a certified alarm or a security system, and nobody is monitoring it
  • It only works while it's charged and on your home Wi-Fi
  • It can't open doors, climb stairs or find its way between rooms
  • It can't detect stairs or edges, so physically block them off and keep it in one closed room
  • It's for supervised use: don't leave a connected robot running unattended
  • It only sees what's in front of its camera, and can't see in the dark as well as you'd hope
  • It can't call the emergency services; if something's wrong, you need to act
โš ๏ธ Being straight with you: this is a helpful extra pair of eyes for supervised use, not a certified alarm system or a security system. Don't leave a connected robot running unattended. It only works while it's on your home Wi-Fi and charged, stays in the room it's in, can't open doors or climb stairs, and only sees what's in front of its camera. Not a replacement for a monitored alarm.
๐Ÿ”’ Privacy at home

Keep the camera on your side.

  • Set it up so the camera and mic are only used when you ask (our setup prompt asks for this).
  • Tell everyone who lives with you, and any visitors, that there's a robot with a camera in the house.
  • Keep it out of bedrooms and bathrooms, and switch it off when you don't need it.
  • Use a strong password on the robot and never open ports on your router for it.
  • Images, audio or text the robot sends to an AI service are handled by that service under its own terms and privacy policy, not ours. Homebody Bots never receives them.
